WIJ! vindt belastingverhoging voor 2021 een slecht plan!

Na de begrotingsoproer van 2019, ontbreekt het ook voor de begroting voor 2021 bij het huidige college van Burgemeester en Wethouders aan creativiteit en bereidheid om de inwoners van de gemeente Oisterwijk niet op te zadelen met financiële tekorten. Volgens dit bericht in het Brabants Dagblad moeten inwoners ook volgend jaar weer bijspringen om de gemeentelijke begroting sluitend te krijgen. 

Uit het bericht in het Brabants Dagblad blijkt dat wethouder financiën Dion Dankers van PGB vooral wordt gedreven door angst. Angst is voor Dankers blijkbaar een goede raadgever. Zijn grootste vrees is dat Oisterwijk minder middelen van het Rijk zal ontvangen. Waarop deze angst is  gebaseerd of wat Dankers er aan heeft gedaan om deze weg te nemen, is onduidelijk. Verder is niet helder waarom het nodig is om wederom de rekening bij de inwoners neer te leggen? We weten allemaal dat iedere penningmeester van een vereniging financieel comfort voor de komende jaren wenst, doch de vraag is waarom dat altijd over de rug van de leden of in dit geval van de inwoners moet? Het antwoord op die vraag geeft Dankers niet. Overigens is het bevriezen van de OZB belasting al jaren een van de belangrijkste speerpunten van PGB. Ook hier worden beloften weer eens gebroken.

Vanzelfsprekend ligt een gezond verstand oplossing voor het oprapen. Zo is er voor het gemeentebestuur een slag te maken door structurele uitgaven te dekken met structurele inkomsten. Nu is het college druk bezig om zijn structurele uitgaven beter onder controle te krijgen maar voor dat daar duidelijkheid over bestaat, wordt er besloten de lasten voor inwoners te verhogen.

Als het college werkelijk gelooft in haar eigen kunnen en in de resultaten van haar beleid om de uitgaven te beheersen, dan ligt het eerder voor de hand om voor de periode 2021 en 2022 een deel, zeg 0,5 miljoen van haar reserves, voor de korte termijn in te zetten ter dekking van de komende begrotingen. Daarvoor bestaat voldoende financiële ruimte. De algemene reserves bedragen immers 3,5 miljoen. Waarom zou je deze niet aanspreken als je gelooft in het resultaat van je eigen beleid en besparingsmaatregelen? Sterker, het college verwacht zelf dat de algemene reserve het komende jaar zal stijgen tot 6 miljoen! Wat is dan precies de reden achter deze structurele belastingverhoging? Is dat de weg van de minste weerstand? Incompetentie? Wie het weet mag het zeggen

Het is de visie van WIJ! Oisterwijk, dat als begrotingsregels een dergelijke wijze van handelen toestaan, je deze ook moet benutten. Waarom zou je als college ervoor kiezen om de lasten voor burgers structureel te verhogen als er voor de korte termijn goede en verdedigbare alternatieven bestaan om dat achterwege te laten? De afdronk van deze bestuursperiode wordt bitter als blijkt dat bij het college lef en leiderschap ontbreekt om burgers van de gemeente Oisterwijk in deze moeilijke tijden uit de wind te houden.
