Met de kop ‘Omstreden Forum voor Democratie doet soort van mee aan Oisterwijkse verkiezingen’ publiceerde Oisterwijk Nieuws op 14 september 2020 het bericht dat Forum voor Democratie (FvD) via WIJ! Oisterwijk ‘soort van’ mee zou doen aan de Oisterwijkse gemeenteraadsverkiezingen.
WIJ! Oisterwijk hecht eraan op te merken dat zij een zelfstandige partij is met een eigen visie op het bestuur van de gemeente Oisterwijk en dat WIJ! op geen enkele manier gelieerd is aan Forum voor Democratie.
Het is algemeen bekend dat Forum voor Democratie ervoor heeft gekozen om vooralsnog al haar aandacht te geven aan de vertegenwoordiging van de partij in de Eerste en Tweede Kamer alsmede in de Provinciale Staten. Of en wanneer FvD klaar is om op gemeentelijk niveau politiek actief te worden is nog niet bekend. Meer over dit standpunt van FvD kun je hier lezen.
Het staat leden van FvD ondertussen natuurlijk vrij om zich op gemeentelijk niveau te associëren met of in te zetten voor een lokale politieke partij. Dat is ieders persoonlijke afweging. WIJ! Oisterwijk heeft wat dat betreft de primeur in Nederland doordat er twee leden van FvD zijn die zich herkennen in de beginselen van WIJ! Oisterwijk en van mening zijn op basis daarvan hun gedachtegoed en visie te kunnen uitdragen en tot uitvoering te laten komen.
